About me

 “Where words fail, music speaks.”

―Hans Christian Andersen

Music is a song of the heart.  It turns an other wise dreary day into sunshine and roses.  As a music lover and teacher, I have found music to be a natural cure for whatever ails you.  When I’m in need of an attitude adjustment or just a “pick me up”, sitting down at the piano and playing for a few minutes makes my world complete.  Playing music is therapeutic.

I’ve been teaching piano lessons for nearly 20 years.  Before I began teaching other people’s children, I helped my own children learn to read and perform music.  I too was once a piano student.  My first piano teacher was a grandmother when I became her pupil, but her love for teaching the piano was evident in every lesson.  I cherish my old books that have her handwriting at the bottom of a page or at the beginning of a book telling me what style period the particular piece was from.

As a young adult I continued my music education at the university level taking classes in theory, music appreciation, organ and symphony orchestra.  Together with my years of experience teaching piano, organizing and executing piano recitals, directing and accompanying choirs and soloists, and attending music workshops has given me precious and valuable insight to the world of music education.
